The Maneri Bhali Hydro Electric Power Project Stage-II, situated on the Bhagirathi River at Joshiyara in District Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, is a significant run-of-river hydroelectric scheme developed by the Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) to harness the immense hydropower potential of the upper Ganga basin. The civil construction works encompassed the design and execution of a concrete gravity dam, head race tunnel, underground powerhouse, penstocks, tailrace tunnel, and all associated hydraulic and electro-mechanical structures, demanding sophisticated engineering solutions in a geologically complex Himalayan environment.

Completed after sustained construction efforts through challenging terrain, the project now contributes substantially to Uttarakhand’s installed hydropower capacity, delivering clean and renewable electricity to the state grid and reducing dependence on thermal power sources.
