The Chenab Bridge Project, executed across the mighty Chenab River on the Katra–Laole section in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, is one of the most audacious and technically demanding bridge construction undertakings in India, forming a critical component of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. The construction involved engineering works related to the substructure, foundations, and associated civil works on this extraordinarily challenging crossing, where the river flows through a deep gorge with sheer cliff faces, extreme wind velocities, and seismic zone conditions that demanded unprecedented design innovation and construction precision.

The Chenab Railway Bridge, upon completion, became the world’s highest railway bridge, towering approximately 359 metres above the riverbed — surpassing even the Eiffel Tower in height — and stands as a defining symbol of India’s engineering ambition and capability in connecting the Kashmir Valley to the national rail network for the first time. Participation in the construction of this iconic structure reflects the highest level of civil engineering expertise, involving specialized foundation works, high-strength structural concrete, and logistical management under some of the most extreme terrain and weather conditions encountered in any infrastructure project in the Indian subcontinent.
