This project encompasses the improvement and upgradation of the existing two-lane bypass to a full six-lane divided highway from Km 403.100 to Km 433.000 (Design Chainage 402.600 to 433.200) on the Hubli-Dharwad Bypass section of NH-48 (formerly NH-4) in the state of Karnataka, executed on EPC mode. Spanning approximately 30 kilometres, this upgradation is part of the broader development of NH-48, one of India’s most heavily trafficked national highways connecting Mumbai to Chennai via Pune, Bengaluru, and the key twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad.

The six-laning will dramatically increase the road’s carrying capacity, reduce traffic congestion at one of Karnataka’s most industrially active urban agglomerations, and improve safety through grade-separated interchanges, service roads, and modern highway amenities. Hubli-Dharwad serves as a major commercial and logistics hub in North Karnataka, and this upgradation will catalyse faster movement of industrial goods, agricultural produce, and passenger traffic, reinforcing the region’s economic growth while aligning with NHAI’s long-term vision of world-class, high-capacity highway infrastructure across India’s National Highway network.
